As per January 1st 2015, the limit for sulphur in marine fuels used in the ECA’s (Emission Control Areas) will go down from 1.0% to 0.10%. Practically this means, that the market for LSFO 1.0% will disappear. Shortages are already imminent in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp region. Several “new” marine fuels have appeared, as an alternative for the relatively expensive marine gas oil DMA 0.10%. These new fuels are expected to be priced at a discount off the gas oil prices. Suppliers are now starting to offer contracts for delivery in the first quarter of 2015.
Should you require any information on these new fuels (HDME-50, Eco Marine Fuel, DMB 0.10% to name a few), please do not hesitate to contact us!
